CEO: UAC mulls localization, production of SSJ in India
BENGALURU, Feb 14 (PRIME) -- Russia’s United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) is considering localizing and producing its Sukhoi Superjet (SSJ) aircraft in India, UAC CEO Yury Slyusar told PRIME on Tuesday.
“We are considering the possibility of localizing and producing the project of Sukhoi Superjet aircraft here. We already have experience of mass production here,” he said.
“India could use the so-called import face of Sukhoi Superjet, which is not delivered to Russia, to buy components with our help and use supplies of our component parts to assemble a completely Indian aircraft and deliver it to the domestic market and to the markets of the friendly countries. I think that India is interested in that, it would be a step forward to obtain a modern civil plan with our help.”
India is a large country, and a plane with 100 seats would be in high demand here. Russia is ready to provide the necessary technological and technical help.
Moscow also offers its Il-114 planes to India as well as cooperation under the MC-21 aircraft project, he said.
